Expert needed: Steering noise front left wheel
My left front tire has wear (highs and lows) on the inner side.
I've had the inner and outer tie rods replaced and control arms were replaced a couple years back.
With the front left wheel suspended, top/bottom does not move. However, left/right moves on the right side.
Here's a video of noise when pulling wheel left to right.

The right side wheel does not have this play. Could this be a bad alignment or a steering rack problem? The techs said that the left shock would have to be replaced to get the wheel in alignment. ???

Does it make the same sound in the air without the weight of the car. You need a second pair of hands. Have you removed the wheel then tried to see if it makes the noise. It seems to me it has something to do with either the outer tie rod or shock area. It's hard to tell.

Based on the vid, looks like the steering tie rod is moving properly with the wheel but there's play at the inner joint (in the steering rack). Can you replicate the noise by steering back and forth a little bit with weight on the tires? Maybe make another video with the camera set to view the inner joint area and test per my comment.

Can you see if the steering rack is moving on its mounts? I don't think there are bushings on this rack, just hard mounted to the subframe. At least that's true on the 535xi. If it is moving, loose bolts?
