be interesting to know the difference in size of the 545i exhaust tips......looking at the pics on this thread those tips look exactly the same size/shape as those on my 530i. could just be the photo though.

Only one solution is possible.. Measurement. Can a 530 and a 545 owner measure their exhaust tips and give tell them here??

Anyway, why do you want to copy, why not let those stupid guys who spent $ 15.000 more for a slightly different design (the bigger exhaust pipes) have a superior feeling, ... so please , do not copy :'(
Hey Jack,

You might want to reconsider what you've said; As this is not Roadfly.

My apologies for the thread starter for digressing the subject, but I just want to point out to Jack that there are different reasons and circumstances people choose one trim level from the other. Stupidity, I assure you Jack, is not one of the reasons.

I chose 545i because thel cost after considering its standard features and resale value, is only slightly higher relative to 530 and 525. (Using historical resale value between E39 540i/530i/525i)

I my situation for example, the cost difference (ED delivery) between 545i and 530i is only about $6,000. If I were to re-sell it in 4-5 years later, I would recoup $3,000-$4,000 of that difference (autotrader.com). Therefore, using the 60 month as the life of my usage and accounting for insurance and fuel costs, I would only be shelling out $68 more a month to enjoy that SWEEEEET V8.

Note: The cost of fuel is not that different between V8 and I6 and the insurance difference is $200 per year more for V8.

To me, eating out 1 time less a moth seems justifiable for the V8 upgrade.

Again, Jack, people will always have different circumstances and thinkings regarding their choice. On second thought, add maturity to the list. I am sure you will understan when the time comes Jack. You just wait.
