My sunroof slides open and closes fine. If I tilt it open and then try to close it and slide open it slams shut and there is a large clunk. When the sunroof is completely closed and I am driving above 70 mph, there is a lot of wind noise. I have heard that this is a common problem and there is excessive rubber that needs to be trimmed away from the sunroof trim. Anyone else had this problem? If so what is as simple as trimming away excess rubber?

My M5 sunroof had wind noise at highway speeds when closed and there was a noticable gap in the seal when I looked closer. The dealer replaced the sunroof seal and it's been air-tight ever since.

I get the wind nosie too.
I just left it and just turn on the hifi louder.
If you need to get it fix, you need a guy that can fine tune the hight of the glass so it is level to the frame.
If there is a cheaper and easy way I like to know too.

i had it really bad when new, then they changed the rubber seal, and then we i started opening and shutting on regular basis the problem came back albeit without the blind pushed in, not too nosy but some windnoise.

Mine had the same problem too but managed to fix it myself by bending the piece of plastic over and over behind the roof once the glass panel has fully retracted into the body.

Mine made the snapping sound when it closed from the 'vent' position but I did not get any wind noise. The dealer cut off something (I found small plastic/rubber shaving all over the interior) and now I wind noise at 60kmph! The dealer is going to replace the seal next week for me.

always been the problem with the e60's, had the same problem just tell your SA about it and they should be able to take care of it under warranty
