congrats mate. 535d is a great car and requires much less finances to keep it running day to day. Of course its nothing like your evo, and will not handle as well, nor will it accelerate like such. But im sure there are more reasons to choose the 535d then simply to race...
Once you get at highway speeds it will match the evo in acceleration but before that it just wont be the same

Good choice CBB and welcome to the forum.
A mate of mine works for a Mitsibushi dealership and this gives me the opportunity to drive Evo's from time to time. They are bad mutha's to drive
I thought about having one once but the interior quality and non existant dampers made me think twice.
Great value for money though compared to a Porsche.

Enjoy your new ride.
I to came from a rather insane performance car to a 535D M-Sport & i love it. If you urge more performance, consider a DMS re-map (their are other options as well) as this transforms the performance & puts the car on the level of an M3 in terms of performance.

Yes I have lurked on this site for a week or two in order to gauge the mood etc before I make my firstpost regarding my decision to buy a 535d M Sport in SILVER GREY with media pack and visability pack, leather etc ,etc (the options that you choose is important ??? yeah) My last three cars were lancer Evo's ranging from a VI,to the VII and finally an VIII MR. The Mitsubishi EVO's were very, VERY fast as you car loving people will allrready know, I'ts just that I got fed up with the crap build qualtiy and the fact that the earlier Evo incarnations were being "chaved up" and tarring the genuine enthusiast with the " I am a whopper as well" brush. The fact that I have ordered a fast diesel car has caused my friends to question my usually "cutting edge" motor choice with a certain amount of laughter. Oh how will have the last laugh when I get the car delivered in May
I hope ![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)

I've only ever driven one EVO, which I think was an EVO V (or IV not sure). It was stripped out, race tuned (trumpets fitted to the engine etc..) and set up for forest racing (semi rallying) so it had really soft knobbly tyres (we stripped 4 sets down to the metal in the course of a day).
It also had a retro-fitted system that altered all of the engine management settings to increase power significantly, but you could only activate it once rolling and then had to keep the revs up above 2500rpm to avoid damaging the engine.
I had great fun in it - so controllable and 'easy' to throw around a bend.
I'd love an EVO myself, but as I need to do 25000 miles a year for work, it's just not a sensible option. With the 535d you still get to play - but sensibly.

I never said the CSL or stated it would beat an M3, just on a par which is pretty correct. Same power, more torque, same 0-60 & 0-100. Round a track the M3 would be slightly quicker, real world on the road not much in it (talking DMS 535D).
Id love to see your face when someone blows past in a chipped e420cdi ... http://wetterauer.de/chiptuning/datenblatt.php?id=2536 conservative tuners give it around 350bhp/800nm ... hs can chip it to 275bhp/870nm.. SAY BYE BYE dms 535d
