Hi new to the site looks pretty good hopefully I can get the experts to throw some light on a few issues I am hanving with my 2004 e60 530d.

The fuel consumption is extremmly low I anm getting less thtan 400 miles to a full tank.Mixed driving

Things I have done so far

New breather valve(plastic type)
Full service
New air,diesel filters

No difference in consumption.

Checked the ERG thermostat today and water constantly flows,is that normal or should this stay closed untill proper temp then opens.
Bottom and top rad hoses dont really build up much pressure and stay warm and dont get very hot.

Can someone please help its,my bro is getting about 6-800 miles per tank mixed driving.

Chesers Romal

Was nearly 100% but now I am,Thanks,Would the erg thermostat be the main problem,
How easy is it to get the other one out.

Thanks again Romal

The main one is just below the egr cooler and your best bet is to remove and replace the two together. For somebody handy with the tools 2hrs max :)

Really? 600 to 800 miles out of an 18.5 gallon tank (including reserve) with mixed driving?
more details please...

There will be more highway than town driving with those figures but it is possible with the bigger diesels.
