Era of E60 is Over?

Ah yes, class warfare rears its ugly, elitist head.
There is no need to call the Honda a POS. The last time that I can recall JD powers didn't think they were a POS either. They have been in the top 5 or 10 for a long time and resale value is much better than most of the BMW's as of late.
Although I am new to his place I am not new to forums. I hope that it doesn't try to become a class warfare when speaking of other cars. I got tired of that from the other forums. Some of the Porsche guys were way too elitist for me. Cars don't make the person and you can't polish a turd.
Through innovation from "Ricers" to "High End Exotics" we get new design ideas, wheels and other mods. So if you are a truly a car fan then you can learn to appreciate all types of cars and not pigeon hole yourself in to a type.
In regards to the OP and this thread - its kinda silly don't you think? Headlights makes a car at the end of its era? Oh boy......
Angels eyes were BMW's trademark, then you have Audi's LED DRL's and now Porsche has the LED's DRLs, MB has them as well. I betcha that if a person with a Honda had done them right before Audi in regards to the LED's under the headlights people would have called it "RICER" and made fun of them. Well then Audi must ricers as well as MB and Porsche.
I think its great that auto makers are taking lighting to the next level. As they progress we will see some incredible things in the near future. So cheers to the "Ricers" and "Higher End Modders" thanks for the ideas..

Folks are crazy about Honda. They have LEGIONS of fans, and a loyal customer base.
Their reliability, durability, resale value retained, and longevity puts them in a class of one, next to Acura- which is merely a rebadged Honda everywhere else in the world outside the USA.
BMW is a sweet car- but there are other nice vehicles too.
Personally, I'd love to have a Mazda 3 Speed 5-door hatchback as my daily commuter vehicle.
A $23,000 4-banger with 263 HP?! What's not to love? I think it's naturally aspirated HP too, but I'm not sure. I know The WRX and EVO both use turbo's to get to that level.
Not sure about the Mazda 3. I've really loved the new and current generations of that car.

...Walking is no fuck when you are not doing it for exercise...

The e60\\\'s reign is almost over but it is by no means being dethroned by your POS ...

You're dead on as usual Gene. Immature posts and pointless threads like these really are becoming more than tiresome.
One of the things that always characterized this forum was its mature membership who not only appreciated their cars, but also appreciated being fortunate enough to own them.
It appears we're now being invaded by the proverbial "15K ballers" who fall into neither category.
Maybe some of these guys ought to stop posting for a while - perhaps until they reach puberty.

While I'm 40 now, and don't fully have my finger on the pulse of what kids (16 - 26) want today from an automotive perspective. I can tell you youngsters like my brother in law (21), whom I refer to as the "Fast & Furious sect", and his crew- are in love with Honda's (Acord Coupes, Civic & S2000), EVO's, 350Z's, and WRX's. However, this observation is from a distance, but it's what I hear them talking about when they argue abotu what's faster, what they saw on YouTube, etc... I don't hear BMW or Mercedes come up in their "If I had the money, I buy a..." conversations.
I know back in my day (teens & 20's), there were people who would rather have had a Accord with a ground effects kit, and some nice wheels- than a brand new 5- series. One of my best friends was in love with the Toyota Camry- which at the time was not nearly as sexy as it is today.
There are plenty of people who aspire to Honda's, that's why they sell so well. It's not from a lack of options, and it's not because they are cheap- there are plenty of cars one can have for under $25K - $35K (Price you'd pay for a nicely equipped to fully loaded Accord), including used BMW's... People buy Honda's because that's the car they want.
When you get older with a little extra $ to play with, or if you're fortunate enough to be born into a wealthy or well-to-do family, is when you start thinking about and posibly more capable of affording more expensive vehicles.
Personally, if a car ever becomes something I "aspire" to own again, I can tell you it won't be a BMW.
If I were to aspire towards a car, it'd probably be something more along the lines of a Bently Flying Spur, a Bentley Continental GT Speed, or a Rolls Royce Brooklands Coupe...
It's probably be the Bentley GT though!
