Funny - I've always admired Honda's handling as second only to BMW's. I've owned only one Honda so far, but I'd get something like this CR-Z for everyday driving around town - if I was in the market. I can't see how this is a sign of the "Era of the e60" (do you mean the 2000's? ) - IMHO the E60 is an instant classic, particularly the 08+ 550 M Sport.

Never knew HONDA and BMW were in the same class....
If you want fancy aftermarket bodykits and lights I guess Honda got +1 on us....
If you want a car to enjoy performance and handling then +10 BMW....
I've owned two BMW's (E46 M3 and E60 545i) and one Honda (Honda S2000) and one thing I don't get is like the comment above. The E46 is a beast and so is my 545i but for fun factor, bargain, and the most fun car to take to the track, I'd pick my Honda over my BMW's anyday. Where else does a car cost $30k, handles like a go-cart, is reliable up the wazoo, gets 26 mpg mixed highway and city, and looks great. Sorry to disagree but I would give Honda the +10 for performance and handling in my case .

In any case, the CR-Z to me seems like a strange concept. Sports car and hybrid don't normally go together (the Tesla Roadster being an exception) and front wheel drive... EEK! Is this supposed to be the successor to the s2000, I would hope not.

Agreed. I don't like to read those "class/league" comments either. Aside from one being RWD and the other being FWD, I'm not sure where BMW is just trouncing Honda when it comes to passenger safety, build quality, reliability, or all of the things that really matter when it comes to a car being a car.

As for the concept, they'll change the front bumper to meet DOT requirements, and slap a sticker on it for $31,000 USD< and it'll sell like hotcakes... Warn hotcakes, fresh off the griddle...

Folks are crazy about Honda. They have LEGIONS of fans, and a loyal customer base.

Their reliability, durability, resale value retained, and longevity puts them in a class of one, next to Acura- which is merely a rebadged Honda everywhere else in the world outside the USA.

BMW is a sweet car- but there are other nice vehicles too.

Personally, I'd love to have a Mazda 3 Speed 5-door hatchback as my daily commuter vehicle.

A $23,000 4-banger with 263 HP?! What's not to love? I think it's naturally aspirated HP too, but I'm not sure. I know The WRX and EVO both use turbo's to get to that level.
Not sure about the Mazda 3. I've really loved the new and current generations of that car.

True, but you forgot: performance and styling....Although that Honda fit sure looks nice

either way, let's not let this thread turn into another Genesis like debate
