I'm hearing a screech after turning off the engine for an '04 525i. Is this normal? The indie I normally use said it's the air flow valve closing and I shouldn't worry about it. Is it supposed to be this noisy? Thanks!

Engine turns off @ 20 seconds, screech occurs at 22 second mark.

I think it normal, I have a 04 3.0 same engine type and I have the same noise,
I believe it´s the DISA valve releasing vacuum.
The DISA valse is located on the intake manifold, see if you can locate the sound from there.

+1 it is DISA valve. While you're there you may want to take it out and clean all that sand out of it and make sure it's not on its way out. Thy're plastic and break easy. I had issues idling like i lost a cylinder and in fact I did lose a cylinder. I took half the engine apart for maintenance and found my DISA broken and simply repaired it. It will never break again that's for sure. lol
BTW I didn't see video but its normal to make a sucking sound a few seconds after you shut off motor if that's what you're referring to.
*** listened....totally normal. Have two cars same engine M54 and same thing. No worries.

If you live in a very cold climate or it's just really cold out, that's typically a symptom of the noise, cold temps. I've had the same thing on my e39 530i
