Engine temperature

My Ride: e60 520d 2006 model
Does anybody know if there is a visual sign anywhere that shows the engine temperature? i guess that if it get's too hot there will be a fault on the i drive screen but how will i know
if my engine get's the proper operating temperature on the way? thanks in advance.

check your owners manual.. i had the same question since im new to the e60's .. but i found out that if u notice that on ur tack right above your redline u will see these little lines.. look at them after a days of driving .. and the next day in the morning once u start ur car u will notice that there are more lines.. those lines tell u your engine tempature..

No they don't, they give you a variable engine rev limit that increases as the engine warms up. The true engine coolant temp is accessed via the hidden OBC menu.
OP, If you own an Oil burner, have a rad of this thread and prepare yourself for finding out your engine isn't coming up to temp
