If you want a really quiet engine, add some liqui-moly MoS2 to the oil after the change. (no, it's not snake oil. It was added to WWII fighter planes in case they caught a ullet in the oil pan in a dogfight. the engine wouldn't seize.)

I don't see the connection?! Adding further additives to a perfectly good synthetic is not a good idea. Those additives might interact with the additive package already in the synthetic and negate them. Also, MoS2 is especially not good idea for engines designed to run on low sulphur gasolines. Its not hard to "quiet" an engine - just use higher viscosity oil, but that isn't good for the engine either.

Moral, don't add anything to your perfectly good synthetic oil. The experts have already figured that out for you in their formulae.

Respectfully, Bob P.

Friction reducer. friction = noise.

Have you seen all the Blackstone oil reports around (especially on E60 M5s)? Look at the Molybendum numbers. They're very high. Some oils have that in them. Some don't. If they don't, you can add it.

Also if his engine takes a bullet in a rough neighbourhood he may make home - or at least a safe distance away.

If the oil doesn't have the moly, than it was designed not to have it. Adding it (moly) could upset the action of the other additives.

Based on that approach, you shouldn't put any oil other than that specified by the manufacturer - or it could upset the action of the car. Seriously?

Correct - hence LLO1 specified by the manufacturer.

NO, just don't add anything to the oil that you have selected, because that could upset the action of that oil. There are many oils that meet the manufacturers' specification or surpass them. Once you have decided which oil you want, use it, but do not add to its package, because that might ruin the package. If you want MoS2 as part of the oil you choose, then choose an oil that has Moly as part of its package and that meets the manufacturer's specification.
