Been overseas for the past couple of weeks and returned home last night. Went out to my car for work this morning and the little engine light on the dash (not LED screen between odometer and tach) is on. I dig thru system messages on the iDrive, no service issues, Check Control says all systems OK. Finally I drill down to find a message that my engine oil level is too high! Now I did have the car in something like six weeks ago for the annual service including oil change but if they had overfilled then, I would think the message would have come up right away. This leads me to believe that after two weeks of not driving, there is a faulty/stuck sesnor. Anyone ever experience this? I searched but came up with nothing...

It's possible that they overfilled the engine, as my car and yours they suck the oil off (?),
not like they used to strain it out (?).
You need to get the car back into the dealers and find out what they did.
The manufacturers may have a goal to seal the engine as they done with the transmissions.
I may be wrong, but...

plausible reason for that is:
Your car is just slightly overfilled. however, when you had your oil change done there was still unsettled oil left throughout the engine. after a couple of weeks of sitting you had just enough oil settle in your pan to just barely cause "overfill" to display. although once you start your car oil circulates throughout your engine, it is possible that once the light is on it wont turn it self off.
there is always the good ol fashioned break out a rag and check your dipstick...

I suspect a sensor issue ... otherwise it should have shown up immediately. This requires a dealer visit.
