Engine oil - E39 vs E60

My Ride: 2008 535i / Black Sapphire / Premium / Navigation / Bluetooth / PDC / USB Audio Integration / 6 Speed Sport Automatic with Steptronic / Logic 7 / Comfort Access / Auto Folding Mirrors / Comfort Seats / Rear Heated Seats / 35% Tint All Around / Black Dakota Leather
Can I use a left over quart of engine oil that I had purchased for my E39? Can I use it for my E60? My oil level is low. It was purchased from the BMW dealership and it's synthetic.

Last week I went in to the dealership to top up the coolant. I was getting a message on the screen. They did not charge me for it. Maybe they can top up the oil too?

These cars require very specific SAE oil, I would at least check the manual, which will tell you to check "approved brands" on BMWUSA.

Also there are two marks on the dipstick. It takes 1.6 quarts to fill the space between them. Apparently we should be very carefull not to go over the top mark.
