Through the iDrive I am unable to check the engine oil level. How do I fix this?

Need some more info man.

You get to the check oil screen but you don't get a reading? What is the check message screen telling you?

I know I have the dip stick. But I was wondering why it says "unable to get a reading" when I try to do it through the computer.

It is normal. I saw this message on my 2005 545i after iDrive upgrade in 2006. Original 2005 iDrive software did not have this option.
