I get an engine noise in my 550i while in stationary. The noise appears when the gear is shifted (not in Neutral mode). The sound disappear when the car moves or when in Neutral. Is it associated with type of fuel? or is it the valvetronic?

The highest grade here I can normally find is 91. What kind of noise did you hear?

Bull, the BMW engines have a strange noice when ideling, espesially when cold.
Drive it - the warning lamps/iDrive tells you if something's wrong.

"valve tapping noises", apparent mostly with cold engine and low speed/gears resulted in a new engine due to an out of tolerance no.7 cylinder . No warning lights/no idrive....
Engine noises should be followed up purposely.
