Hi guys, I have taken the engine cover of and it would appear the crankcase breather is to the rear on the left side of the engine as you face it from the front and not under the inlet manifold as I thought, it does not resemble the pics you have sent. The venting noise however is coming from the right hand side and under the inlet manifold. I am a little puzzled about this, is there any type of valve under the manifold? thanks Paneuro.
Hi, I need to have a look at the OEM diagrams of the vacuum system as the noise seems to have stopped since I removed the engine cover. There does not look like there are any vacuum pipes coming from the crankcase breather and it appears to be bolted directly to the block are far as I can see. I will post when I have did a bit more investigating. thanks Paneuro.
Hi, yes its built into the valve cover. I have looked on the Autodoc website and the new one is on sale but it looks like its only the plastic casing , for some reason they say its without filter! I have emailed them but no reply so far. When I looked on U tube the video shows that BMW upgraded the filter to one that doesn't need replaced every other service. I don't know if you have to buy the upgrade from BMW but I will ask them today. As this vent does not have any vacuum pipes or electrical connections I wonder if that is the cause of the engine management light? thanks Paneuro.
Hi, The venting noise was on the opposite side under the inlet manifold but since I removed the engine cover it has disappeared, I don't know it it was resonating accross under the engine cover but once I have renewed the CCV I will try it and see. thanks Paneuro.
I Have tried without success to source a replacement crankcase vent with modified filter. Most people want to sell the casing but no filter. anybody know where I could purchase the modified filter as it is meant to be interchangeable with the original casing? thanks Paneuro.
