Out driving yesterday and the car became unresponsive to the throttle, It was taking several seconds to pick up when I floored it but then it would come in and respond as normal, other than that it seems normal, no signs of anything else untoward. anybody got any suggestions? thanks Paneuro. P.S. its a 530D msport estate manual gearbox.

HI, I have put the Carly tool on it and it would appear that it has cleared most of the faults. The only faults that are left are the 6 heater plugs which have been registered as faults since I purchased the car 4 years ago. So far the engine management light has stayed off so fingers crossed. TIA Paneuro, but I will keep everybody posted.

Re the vac leak, It is possible as there is a noise from under the inlet manifold which sounds like something venting air but after a few minutes it stops, its not at engine speed so I thought I would leave it alone until it becomes more troublesome. I did purchase a new set of rubber gaskets for the manifold just in case I have to go in there to investigate the leak. I have been in before to remove the swirl flaps only to find someone had beaten me to it so I know there is a few yards of small rubber piping in there. I half suspected it might be the crankcase breather but again not sure, maybe somebody on here will enlighten me. Thanks Paneuro.

It clearly sounds like one of those overly brittle intake hoses is leaking and / or your CCV.
In my case, it was the crankcase vent hose.

Hi, your probably right so I will have to have a look on U tube and see what is required to repair it and renew as many of the little vacuum hoses when I'm in there. any suggestions will be appreciated as I don't want to do the job twice. thanks Paneuro.
