I've had this twice. Fix in each case was to replace the high pressure fuel pump. The second time they also replaced the injectors, having failed to notice they had already replaced them under recall the week before. Didn't fix the problem and after a week of scratching their heads they did the second fuel pump replacement and sorted it.

Hi there,
My car just came back from another software recall on Monday. I asked the dealer if they had cured the tweet, teet noise from the Pump/ Injectors when coasting or overun, and they said no. I was informed by the service manager, that BMW Germany have no cure at the moment for the Fuel pump venting in to the injectors on the N53 petrol engines!

It seems it's only a matter of time before everyone experiences this. My fix was an engine wiring harness replacement. It's kinda sad/funny, but I actually had a bad dream that it happened to me again. That's how bad it was with me. The difference with my situation is that I really did have reduced power! It was awful!! I'd get the rough idle then stall. Restart it with the rough idle and could barely accelerate. It would take a good 10-15 seconds to reach 20MPH w/ my foot jammed up agaist the back of the radiator!
It was AWFUL! Not to mention extremely embarrassing! Shutting it off and restarting only helped a couple of times. Mostly, I'd have to shut it down for a while then restart; even then, sometimes it'd go right back to the same problem.
Judging from everyone elses experiences with the issue, I think I had the most severe instance here. And BMW Assist is no help whatsoever!
Only thing they would do is link me to my service department. When it would happen after hours, their basic sentiment was, "Well, I don't know what to tell ya. I can call a tow truck to take it to the dealership and you're on your own getting home from there." What tha???
This is what spending $70K gets you; the same service you could get having spent only a third as much??

BMW themselves are a joke, the dealers dont seem to know or care and I am driving around in a 45K PIG on 4 wheels!
