BMW USA turned down the DME and wiring harness replacement , and instead sent the 4th HPFP and 2nd LPFP...
They got installed last night and at the time the Dealership said they were working, but they wanted to drive the car some more and then run another diagnostic on it.
4 HPFPs in 2 months? 2 LPFPs in 2 weeks? 2 sets of fuel pressure sensors in 2 weeks?
They still have yet to call me back to come and pick it up, so they both may have issues again? I 'm more than fed up with the situation. I'm starting to think about getting in contact with the Ombudsman for the SE. It is not the dealers fault either, they want to get the car out of their bays as much as me.

Reading these forums has taught me 2 things about the E60:
#1 - Don't buy a 2004 model 545i
#2 - Don't buy a 2008 model 535i
For whatever reason, they both have had a long streak of bad issues.

Yes, HOWEVER, the 2004 I6 engine was rated as #1 best 6 cylinder engine ever made. Put oil and gas in it and thats it! Runs like a champ. There is one thing though, the I6 2004 engine was a variation from a previous 2003 model 5 series. So I assume the I6 in 04 was a perfected model of a previous whereas the V8 on the 545 was a 1st gen engine? Who knows.

I got my 535I back this am...
Boy did I miss it.
The 335I I was driving had started "Long cranking" and the service adviser said he thought he had noticed that it too... it is a typical problem for HPFP's that are starting to fail on N54's
Apparently I'm the Grim Reaper of HPFP's
lol
The amount of work was so long that they had not had time to give me the itemized list of the repairs, and were going to mail it to me , and for the time being I got a short list of the repairs and general parts.

No issues so far , but I only drove it on the highway for like 10 minutes, but usually when I am accelerating down a ramp is when all of the HPFP have failed me , so...

Hello all,
I'm not too adept at the forum thing yet, but I have lurked for sometime now. I too have a 2008 535ia that has the malfunction issue an I am at my wit's end. I've had HPFP, misfiring injector (#2), and wiring harness replaced to no avail. Now they're replacing the DME or ECU or whatever computer that controls the engine.
Same experience with overly smug repair staff and generally thinking that they can solve the problem - but can't.
I've been in an 07 328i for a month. The only saving grace is that the 3 gets with 1 mpg that the 535 does. I would normally feel as though I made a good decision after discovering that fact.
