Hey guys I have not written in some time now butI?m going to try to do so more often though?

Anyway, here is my problem after keeping my 545i in the garage for 3 days it jerked very badly and gave me an engine error message when i turned it on.
I took the car to the dealership and they said that two pistons misfired. When I asked why it happened I was told that it has been happening lately down here in Texas b/c we are getting bad gas.
I don?t know whether to believe this or not. What do you guys think about the diagnosis?

JOE
For what is worth, my friend's E320 experienced a couple of misfires about month ago, cylinder 1 &2 - that set off the Check Engine light. Mercedes dealership told him that they need to replace all the wiring and spark plugs, cost him about $890. But the check engine light came back on two days ago with the same error code and this time they told him that it could be a problem with the type of gas he used! They said that there has been a surge in Dallas area recently. This was the Ewing Autohaus in Plano, TX.

Well the reason it worries me is because at times even after driving and most often at stops i feel a rumble and jerky sensation caused by the engine. I think it may be an issue but I dont know if it warrants further investigation.
As you know, the car computer constantly optimizes the gas / air ratio based on many inputs including the driving style. I believe if you keep driving the car, after few complete driving cycles, the car computer adjust back and finds its optimal performance points.

Once playing with a diagnostic tool in my friends garage hooked to my older 5 (e39), I accidentally reset all "adaptations". The engine run very rough for a couple of days and then slowly adjusted back and found its new adaptation points. I would say to give it a few days - I would try a fuel system cleaner too before taking it back to the dealer.

Regards,

I use the autohausaz.com when I order parts/Oil/Filters/viper blades for my car. Here is the link to what you need
(when buy more than $50 worth of stuff, the shipment is free):

I am not sure what brand is the best if you just buying it off the shelf - I would probably buy the most expensive from Walmart :^)
