I wonder if that "sound isolation lining" somehow increases ambient temperature inside the air intake - what else can it be that would cause performance to improve if removed?

it also affects the weight and distribution thereof, so it makes a HUGE difference probably and we're all stuck here in the slow lane with these things still installed!
