On my 525I every time you touch the car, open/close a door/hood or sometime for no reason, I get a buzzing sound from the engine compartment for 30 seconds or so. Is there a computer fan that turns on, self leveling unit that runs, computer diagonistics taking place?

Assume you mean with the engine off. If so I think this is (perhaps) the car 'waking' from sleep mode. Mine does seem to do a few clicks / whirrs and things (esp headlight levelling).

My car does the exact same thing, posted a question on here once but never got a final answer. Its really quite loud too. I would have thought others on the forum would have noticed it...

I don't have active steering, adaptive headlights, auto leveling. But sitting still, turned off, open the hood and you will clearly heard the buzz. It will make this noise if you open/close the doors or hood, so I assume it's electrical. Some type of diagonistics I assume.

Good question, and it does do so also when you turn it off.

It must have to do with the AC but also...

If you are into AC you know that a lot of moist and bacteria can
affect your health if the airways are not flussed.

Also the airhost on your E60 is regulated. Just look into the grill,
you may see some black plastic parts that do adjust the air inflo...

The car does it for you!

Enjoy and do not worry.

Mine does this to, usually notice it when i am polishing my wheels, noise seems to come from the engine compartment.
