OK - Heres the story - got my GREEN car yesterday and stopped to get something at the gas station on my way home. And as I was getting ready to turn off the car I remembered that you can restart the car without the key after the key is removed.
So I did this and the car started. Pushed it again and it stopped - Pushed it again and it started - pushed it again and it stopped. Pushed it again and nothing. But the radio was on (as were all of the accessories) - and could not get them to go off. So with my radio on and my key in my pocket I went into the gas station. I did lock the car. When I came out the radio was still on. Tried to start car without key and no dice. Put key in and started car - no problems. When I got home turned off and removed key and everything was fine.
So I learned a few things:
1-to get radio only that never goes off push the start stop button a bunch of times after removing the key -
2-don't do stupid things you read about on the website

[/quote]It's like a computer. Actually, it is a computer. With computers, it's a bad idea to think "gee, I wonder what will happen if I do so and so" and then do it. You may not have been thinking that, but I'll be darned if I can figure out what you were trying to do. And, like other computers, sometimes the best thing to do with a car is shut if down and walk away for a while--letting it reset internally.

Doesn't the radio always stay on (after shutting off the engine and removing the key) in the E60's until you open the door?

Yeah, but I opened the door, closed the door, locked the car, went into the convenience mart, came back out, unlocked the car get, opened the door and got in and closed the door and the radio was on the entire time.

Yeah, but did you rub your belly and pat your head? If not, try that next time (with the key fob safely stowed in your pocket to prevent injury).

Cheers,

Not sure if I exit the car the same everytime but sometimes my sequence is shut the button off (engine shuts off, steering wheel raises, seats expand), and like you say the radio is still on even after I open the door. But if I hit the button again with the door open it will shut off.
