The BMW press release for the LCI 5 series talked about the regenerative capability as one of the contributors to increasing gas mileage. I have not been able to find anything about this or how it works on the LCI 5?ers.

Can anyone explain the electrical regenerative capability ? where it is and how it works?

It's basically a smart alternator. The battery is charged on overrun and the load reduced on normal operation.
