Had my Michelin X-Ice on for two weeks now but no snow in the city---yet. Temps justify change though.
yes, when it gets "too cold" snow tires should go on, the summer tires get too hard...

I would say 50F, because temps fluctuate between day and night. When it is 40 during the day, chances are - wherever you live - at night it will be too cold for summers already.
In North Carolina and really don't need a full winter tire, so these "All Seasons" should do fine. Main concern is my steep driveway after a snow.
Had GY runflats, which would only make it about 5 feet then start spinning.
These ride like a dream.
