My Ride: 525i SE Black Saphire, Black Dakota Leather, 116 type alloys
I was woken up at 03.00 am this morning by the "beep beep beep" of the alarm on my 525i, but when I went to investigate I couldn't even open the car with the remote.
It looks like the battery had gone flat overnight and the alarm system thought that the car had been tampered with and that the battery had been disconnected.
The only way I could do anything about it was to open the door manually (with the key in the drivers door lock) and then connect up my portable jump start pack to the positive and negative connections under the bonnet. This allowed the ignition lights to come on and stopped the alarm. (Every failure under the sun seemed to be flashing up on the check control display though).
I've now removed the battery and put it on charge, but can't understand why it would have suddenly gone flat overnight when the car has been starting first time every time each day.
The car is sat outside unlocked as it won't lock using the key in the drivers door even. (I manually locked the other doors by pressing the buttons down inside).
Anyone else come across this sort of thing happening? (I did a search on the forum and found one match from October 2006 where the car had been in heavy rain the night before, but can't find anything else which might explain it. We did have heavy rain last night, but that's not unusual where I live.)

Just a quick update to say that I've recharged the battery and put it back on the car about 20 minutes ago. The only thing I had to reset was the date and time, as everything else seems to have been remembered OK.
Will add an update once it's been behaving itself for a few days.

Have you added anything recently to the power lines in the car. Either that or you have a faulty module somewhere that is not fallng asleep when the car is telling it to.

Will soon find out if the battery goes flat overnight again - fingers crossed that all is OK now.

Quick update - car started fine this morning and no sign (yet) of any further problems.
