Default E61 Camshaft Position Sensor no signal

Hi all,

E61 530d m57 2007 SE Camshaft Position Sensor no signal 3EC0 and 3EC1.

car won’t start and it’s gone through 3 sensors in a month. I know this isn’t right but anyone have any ideas what it could be. car drives for a journey after fitting a sensor. Once you turn the car off it doesn’t start again. Anyone experienced this or could help - only done 87000 so I wouldn’t suspect timing chain engine sounds as it should - Rpm reads right.

thanks in advance

What kind of sensor are you buying, and where are you getting it from?

I've never heard of BPT. Maybe time to try OEM or at least a recognized brand of sensor. There are SO many trash parts being pushed on the market that I don't trust anything from a vendor who hasn't had a good name for a long time, or from a vendor I don't know.

Is there any damage to the tip of the sensor when you pull it out after the car won't start?

If it's not OEM, you are taking a chance with an iffy part. BMWs can be picky. I just checked my OEM sellers, and they only sell genuine BMW or Hella for that part.

Thanks guys - what is the oem part I just begrudge spending a fortune for it to blow again and again - bearing in mind I’ve done the same brand sensor 3 times - when testing the ohms on the sensor reads 4ohms on the broken sensor reads 155ohms so when I plug it in again the car starts and then after a bit doesn’t work again - so I put the old sensor on start and then new sensor on it starts - start it up a couple more times and it goes again.

You're measuring ohms statically, which doesn't catch iffy things. OEM costs $30 more. Try OEM, and if that doesn't fix it, return it.
