My Ride: BMW E61 M-Sport Wagon
Update on where I am at with oil leaks etc to be useful for anyone experiencing issues.
Replaced the oil pan gasket as there was a pretty severe leak, however I am still getting a leak from the same area which looks to potentially be coming from the rear main seal / oil pan gasket i.e. between the engine and transmission.
My hypothesis at this stage is a failing PCV / CCV system causing excess crankcase pressure and pushing oil out through the path of least resistance.
Getting up to speed on the system to see if I can work out what would cause a blockage, as the common failure seems to be a failing diaphragm which would cause excessive vacuum rather than pressure build up.
