e60 wind noise driver side door or top left windshield
#11
Thanks everyone. Yeah today I went to the dealership and they replaced the door seals on the driver side door but as I suspected, the sound is still there at speeds of 120 and up. The SA told me to bring it back if it's still there and they'll figure something else out. It's not urgent so I think I'm going to try and isolate the problem and stick electrical tape all around the windshield and see if that makes any difference. If it does, I'll start stripping parts of the tape until I know exactly where it's coming from and bring it back to the dealership and ask them to replace that part of the seal. It's really not that bad but I paid close to 40k for the CPO so just want them to fix it if possible.
As for the regular gas, I filled it up with regular last time but I think the engine sounds rougher although the mileage and speed feels pretty much the same. My friend used to work for BMW and I asked him and he says they should be able to run on regular but that it's just a liability issue for BMW cause they are designed for premium. He has a 540i and runs mid grade on his even though it also requires premium and his 540i I think has higher compression that my 525i engine.

Had the same problem with my 2007 550. See actual video of my car on YouTube at
. Most probably the seal around your windshield? You can isolate the problem yourself by taping up (with the blue painters tape only) all around the windshield, then doing another drive and removing the tape section by section until you find the leak. This is what I did since (obviously) the dealer can't drive your car at those speeds. I was able to pinpoint that the leak was coming from the top right side of the windshield on the passenger side. All the dealer did (at no charge under warranty) was to reseal the gasket. Hope this helps?
