Does the emissions software recall include the new software needed for Bluetooth on the early 04 E60s?

I have an 08/04 build 545 and went in for the emissions recall two weeks ago. I had asked my SA what version of CIP they were going to install for the emissions and he said 13.3 (the latest he had). He also verified that this version included support for Bluetooth for my car and was only going to charge me 1/2 hr labor to program it.

It's working great.

Good luck!

My service advisor said she'd get me the software version once the update is complete. One thing I am amazed at is how some dealers are getting 14.x while some are still claiming that 13.x is the latest they have. And haven't really followed, but hasn't someone claimed to have v. 15? How can these dealers be so out of sync?

As an aside, when I spoke to my SA this afternoon (about having the phone cradle removed) she said it would be at least 2 days. When I asked her to get me the exact version number because of how some people have had problems w/ software upgrades, she sounded surprised and said she'd never heard of that... Makes wonder how uninformed (or full of &*it) she is.

The service advisor at my dealer said he didn't know whether the emissions software upgrade would make my April 04 build BT compatible. He also said they haven't done a BT upgrade on an 04 5er. The dealer is selling lots of cars. I think they know more than they are admitting.

I got my letter about 3 wks ago, but I have my car put away for the winter. I guess I'll wait till April for the upgrade. I don't do much driving here in the city but if I need to I use my 4x4.

Perhaps I can shed some light on this. In the US the official current release is V13.3 which has BT functionality for post 3/04 production cars. A few of our European members have V14. This version never came to the US. One member that I know of in the US has V15, because his dealer is a tester for CIP versions.

Either V15 or V15.1 will be officially rolled out in January. so they say.

kt8509, how long did your dealer take to complete the recall/software update? Mine has been at the dealer for 2 full days now and the SA just told me "hopefully by tomorrow evening. Am having some other small stuff done like replacing broken headlight bracket and installing Sirius, but the recall is the big item holding things up.

Bump. Day 3 has come and gone with no car! Dealership is having trouble getting the update to "take". JDN, does this sound familiar to you? They swear it will be ready tomorrow, I don't believe them...

Dropped it off at 10 AM, called me at 2 PM and said it was done. Upgraded to 13.3. He said no problems. He did tell me beforehand that if something went wrong, they would have to keep it overnight. Guess I lucked out. He also mentioned that the problems with upgrading had to do with upgrading from a certain version to another version and that it sometimes required to an interim version... don't think he actually knew the details but probably heard it from a tech or something.

Fixed emissions recall and programmed bluetooth. Took me 5 minutes to pair my Motorola Razr. Works great.

Great service and had a 330ix as a loaner.

Good luck and cheers!
