Hi everyone - I need your help. I have a 2004 545i I bought used a few years ago. Runs like a dream and no issues up until now. The volume button ont he dash (left of the CD controls) no longer works. It used to "click" with each volume level but not does not do that. I can push it and it will turn the radio on/off but will not control volume. I just ordered a new button (£11) from BMW but today I went to "pinch and pull" the button off and the stainless steel knob that is exposed does not control the volume itself - so the knob does not seem to be the source of the fault. Does anyone know how I can get this fixed without replacing the entire unit?

Does this stainless steel knob become unscrewed? It has a flat head screw looking head. I tried to use a screw drive to turn this knob and volume is not changing - except when I push hit hard (which then turns off the radio).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
