Hi folks,
Thats my 530d done nearly 80,000 miles now and just thought i would give some of you an update on the warranty work.
New airbag module
new parking sensor
new parking sensor module
module for lights
starter motor
turbo replaced
turbo hose replaced 1 week after turbo when car broke down
2 front shocks replaced with top mounts, the car is much improved in the handling dept.
clutch pedal assembly replaced, still did not fix squeak
clutch bush replaced, squeak finally fixed for the moment after 3 visits
steering column and spindle, dont think this needed done, did not fix stiff steering.
2 lower bushes on front suspension
Still not happy with stiff steering so took it to another dealer. They are now telling me that there should have been 2 new bushes replaced at the end of the steering rack which was a recall and they have not been done.
If the steering is not improved i will push for a new steering rack before my warranty ends in july.
Am i going to take the extended warranty. You betcha. I dont think i could keep the e60 on the road if there was no warranty.
Just for anyone thinking of extending there warranty. I have been told by the dealer that they have been getting so many claims on the extended warranty that they now charge ?100 per claim, over and above your premium which at the moment for an e60 is about ?850 per year.
Ok on a positive note, apart from my time all the work has cost me nothing and i would guess that they have spent 1000s. And i have had a brand new 525d sport, 2 x3s, a 1 series. And i think they finally got fed up with me cause they gave me a mini. Try driving one of those with 3 big kids in the back!

Did you have to pay for your courtesy car,
Eastern BMW charge bloody ?11.75 for insurance!!!
They wont let you arrange your own either!!

Its worth taking the Eastern loan car even if they do charge for insurance. I take their car as "hostage" as I never seem to get my car back the day it is handed in !
My faults list is also long - and certainly am exploring the warranty direct option

Never been charged for a loaner at douglas park, hamilton. However, when i was phoning another dealer fairbairns, glasgow. I thought i recognised the guys voice and it turns out he just left parks a few days before. So its a bit further but he told me some stories and i am going to try them out. They charge a ?10 or something like that. If i get better service then i dont think i will worry about it.
With regards to the extended warranty i will have a look at warranty direct.
Another thing about my car, if they are any weaknesses then doing a 1000 miles a week as i do will certainly highlight them.
Thanks guys
