Good, keep us updated. I think I saw somewhere, that there is also exact message in I-Drive - Battery low or something like that. But based on what I see on world-wide BMW forums, the cars starts to produce strange messages about transmission malfunction, I-Drive monitor turning off/on, wrong functionality of DCS, PDC etc.. In most cases - at the end of the day it was really weak battery.

Go apply for a second note on your house because you will need it if you decide to go to the Stealer for that battery change. I have an 08 and received a quote of
~ $650.00! Battery, Installation & registration. I decided to go to AutoZone and get a direct replacement for 130.00 with a seven year warranty compared to a two.

I've started plugging my car into a battery tender every night, even if I'm going to drive it the next day. These cars need a lot of juice to function properly.

My 530i has a similar issue which is now much worse, a few days ago the transmission failure come up, turned engine off, restarted and was fine until today, today was a different story altogether, car won't start, wont even crank over, tried removing battery cables to reset everything, put them back on and now i get steering fault and i think seat belt tensioner or srs airbag warnings, battery tests fine on a multimeter and has the green indicator window which supposedly means it's fine. The battery was changed about 6 mths ago and the intelligent battery sensor was never reconnected as the nearest dealer is 140 klm away and we never got a chance to get down there to have it registered. Also tried jump starting the car and same story, wont even crank over. Any ideas as to the cause and a way to get it started?

I'm almost sure I got transmission malfunction just before my battery died. Funny thing is I saw the errors and was at work about to go to the store. I decided to stop at auto zone just in case first and it wouldn't start after I parked it at auto zone. Wise decision.

Tony, how's that autzone battery working for you? do you feel a difference from your previous battery?

if you take out the carpeted panel in the trunk, look at the top of the negative battery post. the manufacture date is stamped on there, if its an oem battery.

UPDATE: got new battery from autozone that had equa spec as oem. Has a new alternator, tensioner and belts. Last night i got that damm trans malfunction again. i was on the freeway going about 50 up a small small hill (cruise control was on) when i noted that the car as soon as it tried to downshift the malfunction came up. pulled over started the car over and it was like noting had happened. drove home and the trans shifted as usual (smooth) ANY IDEAS GUYS? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED, would like to fix what ever issue this is before it gets out of control.

did you have the battery coded? did you replace the battery with an identical type (AGM for AGM)?

at 95K, trans is due for service too. don't believe this 'lifetime' fluid garbage.
