Hi there, I've been doing research because i have been getting a transmission malfunction on my 2007 525i. I have owned the car for two years and never have i received this message. but i think its odd because when it first happened i pulled over turned off my car, turned it back on and it was like nothing happened. I'm confused because after that i drove it for close to two weeks and again the malfunction error came on last night. same procedure turned it off and back on and my transmission was shifting smooth like if nothing had happened. i have read on forums that its possible that a low charged battery could cause the malfunction? also i read that the transmission oil needs to be replaced? possible leak? I've always been nice to my car since the day i got it so its not like I've been driving it hard. My car just hit 95,0000 miles. I hope its nothings major and would APPRECIATE any help from you guys. Thanks

Hi
All over 3-4 years is a "bonus" on a E60/61 , this due to the big power consumtion by start etc.
Get a new AGM battery ( cost a littel more , buT last much longer ) , and remember to get it coded to the car when replaced !
Kind Regards

Yeah you can replace the battery, the time would become soon anyway. I've been told, that ussuall lifetime of petrol E60 version is 6-7 years, diesel versions approx. 4. Additionally you can let someone to hook up your car with Diagnostic tool - that might tells you more (but also does not necessarily have to).
a bit OT: Well, battery on my 530i had 6 years before I replaced it. Is there any exact message in i-drive, which tells you that battery is almost dead? I was keep having "high rate of battery discharge" messages, but that was cuased by comfort access.
