E60 Tire issue

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.
Today I was detailing my 2004 E60 after getting it back from the dealer. As I was washing the 5 I noticed something odd about the Michelin Pilot A/S Plus tires. I wanted to get the forums thoughts on this - see photos below. I called NTB where I purchased the tires and will bring it in tomorrow. I just wanted to get some feedback to aid with my complaint, which is: 1) The tire's appear to very dry rotten. 2) Appears the tire is splitting and falling apart, no?

That does look like dry rot ... you should check when your tires were actually manufactured.

This doesn't look good at all. Check your sidewall for the date of the tire and take it back to where you got it from or contact manufacturer for defective tire. Tire place may have a good relationship with them. then again could be tire shops fault and they refuse to work with you.
Post up the info so others can be warned. I have a feeling it's a bad batch of rubber not dry rot although it looks like it.

Certainly looks like dry rot. If that was my car I'd replace those tires pronto.

No, I purchased these tires back in 2010 new from NTB. I'm trying to run the car up to them today to see what they can do for me - if anything. I may just end up getting new treads for the 5 later in the month if need be. I'm not exactly happy about it, but whatever.

definitely a problem, and what are the diagonal slashes? ... the date code will be 4 digits together, and will represent the week and year manufactured, e.g. 0112 = first week of 2012.
