Ok, well I tried searching to find my answer out but I'm confused. This is my first BMW... got an '04 530i. Now I have no nav and was just wondering if there are software upgrades for non nav cars? Thanks.

There are plenty of ways to get the software updated for free if your car is still under warranty.

Might want to try using the upper right search bar...possibly under "Nav retrofit" or "Nav Upgrade"

Hi Bteljuice,

Do you have a link for that thread. I tried the search engine, but I can't find it.

Thanks

If there's nothing wrong with your car, the Progman update is not worth it.

Of what I remember my old '05 525iA did have the CIP 27.2 in 2007.

I don't even know what my new cars CIP is, but it's working perfect.

=======================================

THANKS 'GENEaTALS', Mark and the rest of the e60 forum for the needed info on BMW e60 Nav!! I am going back to my BMW dealer in the morning and ask the "Albert Einstein" (just kidding), BMW Parts manager about the BMWNA retro fit to see if its supported or not by our VIN # on our early 2004 BMW's that Mark Lomag talks about #65 90 0 390 844 . I knew there must be someway to retrofit a NAV to an 04 e60 that might not cost us a "arm" and a "leg!" (I hate going to Best buy to buy a garmin Nav unit and I rather stick with BMW OEM Nav unit if all possible).

Outside of an extended warrantee issue how else could an 04 be under warrantee? I wonder because my 04 needs a software upgrade (I have CIP 15.something) but would love to get it under warrantee if somehow possible.

TIA
Steve

Hi

I'm new to the whole E60 scene, and would like to ask two (perhaps stupid) questions:

1.) How do you know what software version your iDrive is? Is there someplace in the iDrive that you can check it?
2.) Everybody seems to be talking about the Progman update. Is it worth updating your software, and what difference will I see?
