I am wondering why Singapore govt does not allow passenger diesel car. I think this rule is very archaic and dated back to those times when diesel cars do not pass emission standard. Now, diesel cars have better engines that petrol ones and should not be prohibited for private use. For example, the E60 530D and upcoming 535D are fantastic cars with better power and run cheaper than petrol ones. LTA is very lagging in terms of being progressive!

It's a tax thing. Diesel tax I believe is lower than petrol. This makes it cheaper to run taxis, and commercial vehicles. Singapore govt is pro business, so keeping diesel to only commerical vehicles means lower business cost and publie transport cost. Higer petrol tax is just another way to tax individual car owners on top of COEs etc.

If private vehicles are allowed to run on diesel, and more people buy these types of cars, the govt will loose substantial tax revenue from petrol. They can't raise tax on diesel since that would affect taxis and commercial vehicles.

In the end it's all about money....we're after all, talking about Singapore here....

Das must be rather surprised by the success of this forum he set up. I fnd this forum much better than the one hosted by Roadfly because it is a lot more organised that the other one and has less trolls. After frequently here, I find the roadfly forum a chore and rather confusing to browse through. Here, you can see from the topic heading straightaway what the thread is about and zoom in on those that interest you. GReat job by Das! This will soon overtake the Roadfly forum as the best forum for E60 on the internet.

toto, if you remap ecu, will it void the warranty? Do they have remap for 520 engine? Do you think 20% claim is valid? At what rpm? 20% is 34bph for 520. I doubt it very much.

i m not sure about the claims of 20%...they say appx. yes it will void ur warranty. but pml wun know unless ur engine explodes n u send it in for dyno testing in pml....otherwise...if u go in n repair ur creaks n what nots...pml wun know. the advantage of ecu mapping...is that u can always go back to the shop n programme back the original stats. wot remapping does is to liberate ur car to give max performance....obviously u r aware ur car is tuned down bcos of emmission standards.

NO the 3m mats dun hv logo...but they r perfect cut n fit to fit E60s.

correction about the price of the chrome grills....they r 140 b4 discount per piece!!! u hv 2 pieces..left n right! shit! they din tell me...of well...they look better now...at least i din pay for labour..
