hey! i like the darth vader laser pen idea
tell me when it's done

you forgot to tell your wife about the reverse camera is it?
when my wife asked her she said no camera installed yet
(or your switch is just too well hidden)
On the laser pen idea... does anyone here know if we can mod an existing Laser pointer(s) to be depressed remotely? I have seen those types which when depressed, shows a pattern of a "star" or "box" or "circle" or "lines"... rather than the usual "dot"....

Actually my wife kind of got confused over the 3 remotes and 1 reverse camera switch... I am keen to checkout any universal remote solution or those where you can integrate into the iDrive... Its simply too messy now...

Lai,
Are you sure we can mount antenna within the Shark's Fin? I read in some thread that this cannot be done. My only concern is asthetics!

The connector looks EXACTLY like the ones on my Garmin Antenna... the end which connects to the Nuvi... can someone check if our Fins already has the antenna and wire pre-laid?

If so... where does the other end come out from? The dashboard?

Ext anthena for our GPS are quite cheap, I bought mine from Eastgear for S$60. Will it work under the shark fin? Won't the fibre glass block the GPS signals?

Will you still have the lobang to buy the video and iPod control from Billy? I'm thinking of installing these with reverse camera, new BMW iPod interface & ICE once and for all. Do you know if this new iPod interface is available yet? Will have to call PML if its available now....
yes, i know, but i would prefer Garmin ant. Fibreglass will not block radio signal. that is why all aircraft radome are made of honeycombed fibreglass.
you can go direct to him to buy rhe interface and control, the reverse cam is cool in my opinion.

i doubt the new BMW iPod interface will be out soon, but you should checkl first.

it ends at the left hand side panel in the trunk. all connectors are there.
i have all the connectors and wired up....no luck it cannot work.
it needs an amp to drive the ant.

Yankee,

How is your testing of the Garmin Sing/J.B map so far?
Here is the brief summary compared to my Agis, based on the S$300 map and not the freeware
Pros
- Faster as the O/S is not Windows based, very important. You might miss the exit if this is slow
- Doesn't hang
- Good voice instruction and the turning is quite accurate
- The display screen is quite clear and can be viewed in braod day light
- It has a good list of pre-define locations
- Quite accurate

Cons.
- The search features are not as good
- Address not as detailed
- The map does not shows all the blocks number, eg HDB blocks
- Not all the road address are displayed
- It has the feature details but these are not useful, eg at MOST, it does not show everthing.

Overall:

Bottomline:

- If you have the spare cash, buy the Nuvi instead of going to Fireplace to have your free massage.
- If it add the Agis pros to the Nuvi, it would be the ultimate GPS.

As for the freeware and S$300, you need the spend the S$300.

My one cent contribution. Why not 2 cents ? Because there more then this.

If you are using 3M films... no need... just mount it to the top right hand corner of your inner windscreen... remember to have the black curved part facing outside... To get even better accuracy and even faster lock, try mounting it on top of the EXTERIOR of your A pillar... they can run the antenna wire thru the door and via the rubber flaps... Just make sure your Wing Flaps are not adjusted...
RSLK,

i think BZSAB is talking about the Korean one - saw it on their website but didn't know what the heck it's for

Hi Bugaboo,
Agis is just software with map, it can run on Pocket PC and Windows. The one I had is PocketPC on HP handheld.

This is the web site on Agis map and software http://agis.com.sg/agis/index.htm
S$300 map is the one that need to be purchased for Nuvi that comes with search features. For Agis, map+software is about S$199( sing only) separate cost for Malaysia. Free update

I am comparing the Agis Software/map against Nuvi with S$300 map.

For Agis, you need a PC or an handlheld. While Nuvi come complete but must buy the S$300 map ( if search feature is needed).
