I can't remember if E60 has the cold indicator on the dip stick though. My previous car had; it had a different mark to reference to.

My Ride: Nothing to boast about!
Ok first teaser. I am going out and will be driving for a while. Will see if it is ok. The parallel 5W resistor was darn hot! But I don't get any warning from the on board computer.
Actually I found out by just turning the key to position I or II, without turning on the light, the computer will already do the light check.
Update: Doesn't quite work
. Once heated up, the LED's started to blink at 0.5s rate. It was really funny seeing the LED's blinking at the number plate.
I have a feeling the sheer heat from the resistor was affecting the LED's. If I have time, I will experiment further.
