I think UK buyers may be more aesthetically conscious than other nations.
Or we have more company cars where the company (and not the individual) is prepared to provide the budget.

Personally, I would spend the money on the next engine up, rather than a trim upgrade.

Do you honestly think this E39 non-m looks horrible
I wouldn't say they look horrible but the 2001 onwards sport looks much much better than the non sports.

I have a different question for you UK e60ers:

everytime i look on the web i see that almost all e60s have M Kit installed. Is that true that literally 90% of all e60s have m kit?
I would say at least half here in Aus are the M-Sport spec as well. IMO here it is about the only reasonable cost option BMW Aus have. It's about $5k accross the range on $100-170k plus cars. For that you get the M body kit (which IMO makes the car), sport suspension, the M Wheels, far superior sports seats (unless you have comfort seats), m steering wheel, m door trims, black head liner.

Driving the M Sport and the regular E60 back to back feels to me like they could have been made by different companies. Eveything you touch is different i.e. the smaller fatter steering wheel, the sport seats. The drive is different too with the sport suspension providing a notably sharper ride and less body roll which or course is not to everyones taste.

That car has better wheels (BBS?) and is a good colour , and sparkling clean ( which always helps) . However if you show me a similar car in a bad colour ( light green) with the ugly 16" wheels, I would rather drive a skoda. Naturally this is only my personal opinion.

When the standard e60 came out , I thought it looked even worse than the standard e39. However I have adjusted myself and the SE e60 doesn't seem so bad now. However I think I will never like the non-sports e39.
