E60 parking bulb

I've read where some have managed to do so, but I can't imagine how. It was fairly fiddly swapping out the bulbs with the headlights sitting on a bench. I don't have overly huge hands, but really don't think I could contort them to the position to reach "around the corner" to get to the bulbs, much less get them installed accurately doing it blind.
Or maybe different models of E60/61/6x have better access to the area behind the removable circular cover?

1. Remove circular panel.
2. Contort your wrist and fingers.
3. Twist bulb housing counterclockwise.
There are slots you need to align to to reinstall. I can do it quite easily myself.

Yes, it is tricky. I don't have small hands or sausage fingers; I believe you need long fingers and be familiar with the process. You are doing it mostly by feel.

Dont throw away to old unit. Chip off the glue either side of the socket and you can replace the bulb with H10w halogen bulb, dab of glue on the holder, slide it back into the reflector and you have a spare for the other side which will surely fail soon!

I've got what I'd say are average hands, but there's just no way I'd be comfortable (or able?) to reach that halo bulb without removing the headlight. But as DevonBoy mentioned, it IS easy to pull out the headlight to make certain that you get it seated properly (something that I found wasn't entirely trivial with the headlight on a bench).

Well, I have big hands and fat fingers, but I pulled the headlight assembly and changed these on the bench. That process was simple enough, but I was shocked at the condition of the wiring inside!
most of the wiring has deteriorated insulation on inner headlight wiring! I separated all the wires as best I could then coated with a continuous blob of liquid electrical tape, and let it cure before proceeding. Looks ugly but keeps wires insulated and separated. Could not believe the low quality wiring the Motor Works used in there! Everything working again, thanks for your help all!
