I have a 2004 545i e60 that has what was on the sales sticker "nav prep" but not the complete nav system. My questions is, what does that mean. I would love to retrofit navigation or know what it will take to make it work. As for that matter, what will it take to make the idrive screen work as a dvd player. i have seen pics of it done and a car at my dealer was setup this way when i was there last week, and i would love to have mine do the same. I have also seen the option for a backup camera, which doesnt interest me at all, but from what info i have found the module needed will allow you to do both. If anyone has any info, please let me know

thanks

That means you can have the navigation installed at the dealer. When the E60 was first introduced, the navigation system was not ready so they shipped the early cars with "nav prep" so it could be added later. Basically means all the wiring and computer components are in place. For a while BMW would only charge the same $1,800 that the option cost. Not sure what they would charge now, but you can add it. Can't help on the conversion of the iDrive screen to play DVDs...
