E60 LCI Pro Nav Retrofit
#1
Hi guys,
Wonder if you can help me make sense of the plethora of information on the internet regarding this!
The car is a 2007 LCI 525i SE. It does NOT have any form of navigation fitted, but has the following relevent ordered options:
0644 Bluetooth Telephone Preperation
0694 CD Preperation
0698 Area Code 2 for DVD
08SA Country-Specific Navigation Activation
I have come across a CCC and Professional Nav screen from another LCI E60 with roughly the same production date. Effectively what I'm after is details on whether the retrofit is a massive faff, or easily possible.
I have heard it's as simple as simply plugging the screen and CCC in using a new lead from BMW, replacing the iDrive controller with a 'High' iDrive controller, hooking up any GPS aeriel (ie not going to the trouble of mounting the BMW one in the shark fin) and getting it coded on Autologic.
Is my thinking flawed? Is there a lot more to it?
I'd really appreciate any advice you guys might have!
Thanks!

So there are no catches or nasty caveats? It really is that simple?
The big sticking point is the antenna - I have heard you can simply use an aftermarket one under the dash. Is this correct?
