Default E60 LCI coding out daytime lights error

Hi All,

Would like to ask fellow fourmers here if you could kindly point me to some resources to help me code out the following error on my iDrive: Side/daytime lights on right/left faulty! (pls see pic attached)

Background: I replace my 2009 E60 LCI headlights with aftermarket ones (from Aliexpress), the headlights are work fine, i.e. angel lights (as DRL), amber eyebrows as well as the main (HID) and high beam, all are working good. The only issue is that these headlamps will throw an error on the iDrive with the above fault even though everything is working. After about 30 seconds the error will disappear and then randomly re-appear again with the same fault message. It's an annoyance everytime the error appears with the chime that comes along with the error.

Perhaps there is a way to code out this specific DRL error, just like like coding out the seatbelt warning. I have also noted that there are some 'error cancelling resistors' to be purchased to be connected to these headlights that might do the job of 'tricking' the ecu that the DRLs are OEMs, however not sure how to connect these resistors. As such, I think the best way is to code it out... I am a beginner with INPA, NCSExpert, Carly tools, and would need guidance as to how to go about finding the correct portion of the program to code out these errors/warnings.

Would appreciate any inputs here.

Thanks

It isn't tricking to think they are OEM. It is the car is expecting the electrical performance of an incandescent bulb and you have some LED bulbs. The bulb-out logic thinks that one or more bulbs are burned out. You can code this out or install LED load resistors - you can surf and find ones made by Sylvania and Philips...I'm sure you can find some on Aliexpress. I don't know how to code it out, but you'll find it here or on bimmerfest.com.

The easiest thing to do is buy the resistors ( they should have been included in the first place). If you decide to try the coding, go into the light module and find the bulb check status for that particular bulb and turn if off.

+1 to add the resistors vs coding.

Hi,
Thank you all for the suggestions on the resistors. Attached is the pic of how the angel light/DRLs are connected via the INVERTER. Just wondering if I buy the said error cancelling resistors, would the connection I have in the pic be logical to connect as such. That is to say, I have the resistor connected in parallel to the input of the inverter.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

The diagram depicts a parallel connection,

If you didn't have the resistors to begin with during the install then it's a waste of money. You have the needed software to complete the job in less than 5 mins.

Yes you are right, the set did not come with resistors. That's why I am thinking I need to code out these errors, something like this (post #3):
https://5series.net/forums/e60-e61-p...errors-132833/

However, I do not know what parameters to look for to disable the checks for Angel eyes/DRLs.

Thanks again

When you get to that point it's a list that's in English. You turn off the ones you need.

You read the module in NCSEXPERT then open up NCS Dummy and change the parameters in your LM file, save and then go back to NCSEXPERT and code it back using the .MAN file

No coding is required if you splice in the resistors.
