"Fuel injector faults and high pressure pump problems with gasoline LCI cars"
Just want to know if this problem has gone away with newer cars or if it still apply!?
Has anyone been experiencing this from a car delivered in 2008? 523i, 525i, 530i etc.

TIA

Its like some sort of joke everytime i take it in.
First it had new software installed. Result no change. 2 days off the road
Then injector changed as the flow readings were different to the others. Result no change. 2 days off the road + 2 day to diagnose it.
Just got it back after 8 days while the dealer performed all manor of tests on it again.

Now the Dealer has sent a Puma to BMW, whatever that means.

The fiasko hit me today...

I got the "Engine Fault! Reduced Power!" message on my 2007 525i. The car went in to limp-mode...
I towed it to the nearest BMW dealership. Will call them first thing on monday to check for status.

Does anyone know if BMW have a procedure / re-design for this fuel pump / fuel injector issue? Have they solved the fundamental design problem or are they still wandering around in the dark?

This thing sucks! I was going away on holidays (with my car of course) :-(

This may be of interest to all of you with LCI models with injector failings. In June 2008, I wrote directly to BMW Munich after injector number 1 gave up the ghost with 10,500km on the clock. (Injector number 2 went the same way with 7,000 km). BMW Spain had suggested changing my regular filling station as there could be water in the gasoline. I insisted on a full review of all six injectors and they have finally convinced someone in BMW Spain. I took the car in yesterday and I was told that instructions had been received from Munich that all six injectors should be changed as BMW had switched to a new supplier for injectors. Let's see if this improves things. I suggest that you contact your respective dealers to find out if the same applies in your countries.

Hi There,

I had the same problem a month ago on my February 2008 M530i. The message from the computor was `engine is running on reduced power` I managed to get the car to the dealer who diagnosed a failed high pressure fuel pump and replaced the faulty unit!

The car is going well now, however I have now recieved a recall for a very simular fault and when I booked the car in this week, I was informed that the problem was the ECU and the fuel injectors cutting out the cylinders and that the ECU had to be re-flashed?

Will keep you posted

Hi there,

I recently bought a 2007 E60 530i LCI M-sports and today my car turned on the engine fault, reduced power light, which you have already experienced.

You've stoped posting, id like to know how's your car doing, if changing the fuel pump+injectors solves the problem.

Do you still have your n53 engine BMW?

Please post.

Thanks

our 2007 525 has similar engine and had six new injectors due to the early recall in its first year...
After three years (just off the end of warantee) one injector "failed" (no. 6) again. Local Waterlooville(UK) BMW independant fitted new one for us and I got to look at the old injector: it was coated in carbon on the tip! No wonder they fail. The problem is it is just an intermittent fault (like an inkjet printer head) as we drove the faulty one for a few hundred miles OK.

for information the new injector and coil are £114 and £45. So BMW dealer was going to charge £300 labour to fit them...
