It is a great feature. The best part is on google maps, i can choose an address and then send it directly (yes directly off google maps) to my car. When i get into my car, the address is already available in the idrive!! is that cool or what??? however, they do charge 175 eur per year for this service...

Google Search on the iDrive is a different service to the Sending the Google Maps stuff from your PC to the Car. I have the latter but not the former.

In austria, it is part of the connected drive which consists of bmw online and bmw assist...

I got both features on my car and they're free in the UK for three years Searching google from your car can be pretty slow though

BMW Assist is really useful as well. I went on a ferry recently and had forgotten to bring my handbook with me, so I didn't know how to turn off my movement alarm. So I activated BMW Assist through I-drive and the guy, not only immediatlely knew where I was (scary) but also was able to talk to an engineer and tell me how to disable the alarm. Brilliant.

This is a totally new feature (unrestricted internet access using EDGE i.e cellular)
