Tips on what exactly, how to use it? It took me a few minutes to figure everything out. There is also the tips and tricks thread you may want to try. Tons of stuff there.

The early iDrive takes a while to figure out, IMHO, and I found it a bit frustrating at first. My recommendation is to learn and get comfortable with it while the car is parked and not in motion... it can be quite a distraction if you try to learn it while driving.

Download your car's manual here:

The manual has some info about the iDrive.

First of all, it is "iDrive" not "I drive". Nit picking...
After settling on a few settings in the "i" menu (straight down from the initial screen), I find that I rarely use it at all. You can control the Climate, Radio, etc. from the dash or steering wheel buttons after that.
While parked, just push the button for the "i" menu and explore the options.
Disclaimer: This is based on the original iDrive version, not the current one after 2008 or LCI.
