Personally, I like the F10 more every day, but what I really look forward to is a car packed with the latest electronics and handling charectristic.
I don't know if I can agree with you about BMW not giving shit about European and/or Australian styling preferences. Firstly, when Chris Bangle was designing the E60, he wasn't interested only in the US market or the so-called BRIC. He personally said it was time to move forward with the design... and to put the facts rights, (if BMW does in fact actually care about the countries) they'll care mostly about China because it is now the biggest selling (in volume) country. US market has crashed due to economic reasons.

The interesting thing is, the US and/or other countries don't get 5 Series in a long-wheel base apart from China. What I'm trying to get at is that BMW does care about all countries to an extent because all models are exported with different setup to satisfy what the specific countries want (I know this because I've represented BMW previously, yes I am a lawyer). If what you said is correct, I don't think BMW designed the E60 based on what US wants because the E39 was the best-selling 5 Series before the E60 came along.

I think the majority of members agree that E60 made a bigger impression (in terms of design language) compared to the F10 - it was definitely modern and in a way "ahead" of its design back in 2003.

I just hope the 2015 & 2016 - the revolution era - will make the design more fascinating... because the F10 does not give that "WOW" factor... to me anyway...
I think when they redesigned the 7 they got positive feedback and decided to take those changes across the brands. To some degree the interior of the F10 is very reminiscent of the X5/3 platform. So maybe it's a way to lower cost. Not sure what's really behind the design, but when a BMW looks more like a Lexus I start to get worried.

A long time. People that bought 80k 550i's in 2010 did not buy a car to get outdated in less then 4 years. I still think the E39 looks decent and that came out in 1997 so hopefully same with the E60.

I think color has a lot to do with it as well....i mean, a white 2005 545i looks pretty damn nice and new-er when clean, but a space grey 545i looks pretty outdated in my opinion. I have seen one at school that just look BAD.
