Now that real winter weather has arrived in the Northeast, I decided that I want to swap out the carpeted OEM mats that came with the car for something that is waterproof that will protect the carpet from snowy boots.

I've heard talk on this board of "all season" OEM rubber mats. I assume those are different from the carpeted mats I have. (The word "rubber" was my first clue, lol! ) Any idea of what those cost? I assume that they are also available in colors that match the carpets in our cars? What alternatives to the OEM mats are there? Anybody using WeatherTech mats? What other sources of rubber mats are there to fit the E60?

I have the all weather oem mats. they are much different than your asotck mats. They come in black, beige, grey and maybe another color too. I paid roughly 70 for the front and 50 for the rear. they are VERY nice and provide mucho protection in thy winter months.. i plan on keeping them on all year. hope that helps....

They are great for protecting the stock mats from being ruined. They are rugged and fit perfect. They also come with the clips to replace the velcro ones for the carpet mats.

I had them in my e39 and now in my e60. They are great quality and fit well. I leave them in most all year.

I've had the all-weather OEM mats on both of my BMWs. The fit is perect and they come with attachment "screws" to keep them from sliding. I've had the ones on my e60 for 3-4 winters and they show almost no wear. IIRC, they were about $80 for the four piece set. I've seen the used on e-Bay for considerable less.

So I'm hearing that the OEM all-weather mats are better than aftermarket? Bavarian Autosport has the WeatherTech W62's for $55 (front only). I understand the OEM mats can exceed $100. What's your opinion?

I still have my all weather mats from the E60 and it's now on the new vehicle. I'll put them up for sale for $40 once I get the proper ones.

Oh, I almost forgot, make sure you get the ones specific to the xi models. The 2WD versions will not fit.

If you get the Weather Tech "Floor Liners" they are far and away better than OEM all weather mats. They fit like a glove and go up the sides of the foot well to protect the carpet and collect snow and mud. Weather Tech also makes mats that are similar to the OEM all weather but I would choose the OEM over those...
