I asked this question on another thread but it got kind of lost.

Historically, for recent facelifts like the X3 and X5, how much time was there between the press release/photos AND the factory switchover/dealer availability?

Obviously, BMW won't want to kill sales by releasing details too early but can we expect an announcement with details before March and if so, when would said annoucement be (typically)?

Thanks!

I wonder if there has been one, typically?

Well, I remember that they did a press release for the X3 earlier this year with photos and text describing the changes in detail. This was several months before the the facelift was to be available but I can't remember what the time gap was beween the press release and the launch. I was hoping someone here might recall.

Well if that forms the pattern then we have several months to wait for the facelift!

If "several" is more than two or so, it's not going to please our NA cousins with their e60 MY2008 starting March 2007.

The press release and detailed photos (North America) for the refreshed 2007 X3 were put out on June 27, 2006. (not sure when production started - Sep?).

The press release and detailed photos (North America) for the all new 2007 X5 were put out on August 8, 2006. (not sure when production started - Oct?).

The press release and detailed photos (North America) for the refreshed 2006 7 series were put out on January 27, 2005. If I recall correctly, the E65 refresh started production in March 2005 with U.S. deliveries beginning in May 2005.

So if the E60 is to be refreshed for the 2008 model year and launched in the U.S in the Spring of 2007, we should expect to see details around the 1st of February.

I wonder, if it's worth expending any energy on this, whether there's a snowball in hell's chance of a mid-life kick 5-series being launched outside its home market BEFORE it's launched IN its home market?

Thanks Tachyon! That's what I was after...
Much appreciated...

Now it's just the general wait and hope for reminders of how similar launches have occurred outside US.

Well, didn't the 2006 E65 7 series facelift launch in the U.S. in Spring 2005 ... while I think the rest of the world waited until Fall 2005?

This UK review was filed 19th March 2005.
Make of that what you will.
