Yes, but the aura and reality of MADE IN GERMANY GERMAN ENGINEERING cannot be compared with wanting cars made in Japan because of Japanese know-how. I know...it's a convoluted answer, but....you get my drift.

Even for now, Japs engineering is still not as good as German. They are very good at copying, but not at creativity and innovation. Someone would remember that some Toyota official said that the 3rd generation GS is the most advanced automobile on earth. What a bold statement, huh? But actually if you look at the new MB S-series, it put Lexus GS and LS to a shame. LS is trying to be the leader in large luxury sedan, but they're lacking of innovation. Although the quality is superb, it still does not have much status as 7-series and S-series.
Go to autoshow and see how many people gathering at BMW area and MB compared to Lexus? Especially GS?
